Sauteed Ruby Chard

I've never actually eaten chard before I made this. It looked really pretty in the picture so I put it in my garden. I don't have any exact quantities listed because the amount you use depends on how much chard you have. Plus, most of these ingredients are ones that people have actual opinions about, so if you love garlic and balsamic vinegar, use a lot, if not, don't.

  • Bunch of Ruby Chard
  • Garlic
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Olive Oil

Step 1.

Grow some Ruby Chard. I've never seen it in the grocery store, but I live in a strange place. You may be able to find it for purchase where you live.

Step 2.

Pick some of it out of your garden. Rinse off the dirt.

Step 3.

Pour about 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a cool pan and put it on the stove on medium-low heat. Cut the chard leaves into ribbons and the stalks into chunks.

Step 4.

Put the garlic in the hot oil and saute' just until it gets aromatic. Throw the chard into the hot garlic-y oil and saute' for just a few seconds. Add the balsamic vinegar. I put all these separate additions into one step because they all happen rather quickly.

Once everything is in the pan let it simmer until the stalks are tender.

Yum.
